Volunteer with us!

At Headway Derby we recognise that people volunteer for lots of different reasons. You might want to get some valuable experience on your CV or perhaps want to spend your time doing something to help others and have some fun along the way!  Whatever your motivations for wanting to volunteer we will endeavour to create an opportunity to fit in with your lifestyle.

We are always on the look-out for volunteers to help in a range of different ways. This might include help with the activities listed below or it might be something completely different!

  • Gardening
  • Receptionist
  • Befriending
  • Support worker
  • Arts/Craft sessions
  • Visiting speakers

As a voluntary sector organisation we equally value the efforts of our volunteers and our staff who work together as a team deliver our services. That’s why all our volunteers are offered supervision, training and inductions to help get the most out of their time with us. But don’t just take our word for it – have a look at what our volunteers have said.

"Volunteering at Headway Derby helped me to get my dream job as an Assistant Psychologist in brain injury. Volunteering was a very rewarding experience which provided many opportunities to develop and apply new skills and knowledge. In my opinion volunteering provided an opportunity to develop my career that I might not have otherwise have had."

 Nicola Burchill

"As a Mum of twins I have really appreciated the opportunity to do something different and volunteer with Headway Derby. Volunteering has provided an outlet to build my confidence, rediscover skills and meet new people. I have a real passion for art which I have been able to use as a volunteer to help others!"
